Engine is almost here.
Engine by noxsoft will be free for macOS, Windows and Linux. Downloads open on this page on launch day. Leave your email and we'll tell you when.
Opening it the first time
macOS
Drag Engine into Applications. The first time, right-click (or Control-click) it and choose Open, then Open again. The Mac builds aren't notarized by Apple yet, so a plain double-click is blocked once. On macOS 15 or later, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway instead.
Windows
Run the installer. If SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. Engine is new, so SmartScreen may not recognize the installer yet.
Linux
AppImage: chmod +x the file and run it. Debian or Ubuntu: sudo apt install ./Engine-*.deb.
On first open you sign in with a free noxsoft account and set up your workspace. After that Engine keeps working without our servers, except mail to people outside your company. Updates download in the background, and Engine asks before it restarts.

Linux
- A 64-bit desktop distribution, x64 or ARM64
- AppImage for most distributions, .deb for Debian and Ubuntu
- A secret service (GNOME Keyring or KWallet) is recommended
You also need an AI to run the agents: a key from a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or OpenRouter (your provider bills you directly), or a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, which needs a computer with enough memory for the model you pick. Hosted Engine, for teams.
Today Engine runs on a computer you control, and your team connects to it. We're building a hosted version that noxsoft runs for you, so the workspace stays on when every laptop is closed and there's no server to look after.
